One Health in Communities: PBHL 642

Integrating Human, Animal, and Environmental Health Through the Lens of the Poudre River

This three-credit course uses the Poudre River and water as a model for exploring complex One Health challenges. Students will engage with experts from CSU, local and state government agencies, non-profit organizations, and industry to gain diverse perspectives on the monitoring, protection, and management of water resources.

Through case studies, discussions, and collaborative projects, students will examine the interconnected health of people, animals, and the environment through the lens of water quality, access, and ecosystem sustainability. The final project will involve developing and presenting One Health–based strategies for managing Poudre River–related issues to a relevant stakeholder group.

This course serves as a capstone offering for the Graduate Program in One Health at Colorado State University.
