CSU One Health Institute Hosts Spring Affiliate Luncheon in April 2024

CSU’s One Health Institute hosted our Spring Affiliate Luncheon on April 24, 2024. The Institute’s Affiliate Network includes over 280 faculty researchers, organizational partners at federal, state, and local levels, and staff interested in One Health collaboration and research.
Throughout the academic year, the Institute organizes Affiliate events to provide updates, activities, and networking opportunities for new research ideas. At the luncheon, Dr. Lorann Stallones, Human-Animal Interactions Research Coordinator for the Institute, presented an enhanced One Welfare Framework for addressing human-environment interactions. Following the presentation, attendees discussed science communication and worked to identify areas for improved communication practices in their research fields.
In addition to lunch and networking, attendees discussed challenges and needs to improve skills for science communication to different audiences. Affiliates discussed prioritizing science communication practices, evaluating communication strategies, and identifying target audiences such as the public, media, policymakers, funding foundations, and scientists. CSU’s One Health Institute will use this feedback to work with science communication experts on campus to facilitate future discussions and opportunities for our affiliates to improve science communication and make resources available.
